The winning NFT key for ‘Dookey Dash’ was sold for 1000 ETH
On Monday, 18-year-old esports player Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson announced that he sold his winning NFT key for “Dookey Dash” to billionaire entrepreneur Adam Weitsman for 1,000 ETH, or $1.63 million.
Mongraal had previously listed the key for sale for 3,333 ETH, equivalent to $5.43 million. The sale means that “Dookey Dash” creators Yuga Labs will receive 5% of the sale in royalties, totaling 50 ETH, or $81,500.
To help him with the sale negotiations, Mongraal enlisted the help of “Tre,” a Stanford graduate and co-founder of NFT community Underground. “Just wanted to help make sure he was getting the right price the key deserved,” Tre said in a Twitter DM to Decrypt.
Last week, Web3 community UpDAO made a bid of 690 WETH on the asset, which was about $1.1 million at the time. Meme site 9GAG later placed a 999 ETH bid on the key but was ultimately outbid by Weitsman, who is known for his scrap metal businesses, massive social media following, and fondness for cryptocurrency. In fact, Weitsman started a crypto mining business called Viridium in 2021. He currently sports a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT as his Twitter profile picture.
